With the recent passing of Valentine’s Day and wedding season quickly approaching, I have had several potential clients contact me hoping to get in for last minute sessions. One of the main questions that I get, other than what do I wear and do you do hair and makeup, is how long does it take to get the photos back?

There are a few things to consider when it comes to the timing of your boudoir session. If you are doing the session as a gift for someone else, chances are that you have a deadline for product delivery. Boudoir is an amazing gift for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, and pretty much any other gift giving occasion you can think of. When you’re faced with a deadline, it would be helpful to know what timelines you need to consider and how the whole process plays out.

5 Thing to Consider When Scheduling a Boudoir Session

  1. Do NOT wait until the last minute. This goes without saying, right?! But I get it! Life gets ahold of us, and before we know it, that special occasion is around the corner and we haven’t even considered what we might gift that special someone. If you are considering adding an Experience that includes Professional Hair and Make Up, not only do we have to consider the photographer’s schedule, but also the Hair and Make Up artists, too. This can certainly put a damper in a last minute scurry to book a session - particularly during wedding season.

  2. Custom photography sessions take TIME. Every single photo that my clients see at their reveal session is fully edited. From the date of your session, we will schedule your reveal which is typically about two weeks after your session. This is the time that you get to see all of your edited photos for the first time, and order your final products based on what you need. Allow for this time in your deadline!

  3. Printing custom products takes TIME too! From the date of your reveal, it will typically take an additional three-four weeks to get all of your finished products back from the labs. Several of the Luxury products I offer are handmade by our incredible suppliers. I also look over each product before they go to you, to make sure that everything meets my very high standards and looks BOMB.

  4. And then there’s the option of payment plans. – and if you would like to take advantage of that service, you will need to make sure to build that into your time as well! Nothing is designed or ordered until it is paid for in full. Therefore, if you would like to use a payment plan, we will need to make sure that your final payment is completed at least two-three weeks before your deadline date to allow time for order and delivery.

  5. Rush options are available. - On occasion, we are able to squeeze you in last minute and rush your product delivery, but because we are rushing several different processes, there are additional costs involved. Don’t wait, if you know that a boudoir session is something that you’d like to do as a gift, start looking at dates now!

Bottom line: For a standard session - and not considering dates that are already filled up - plan on 8 weeks before your deadline to make sure that we can get everything completed and looking amazing!
