Tips and Tricks to Saving for a Session

Create a separate account
If you are anything like me, it’s hard to save money when it’s sitting there staring you in the face, screaming SPEND ME! Any time I have a larger purchase I need to save for over time, I use a separate account, checking or savings, to hold the money until I am ready for it. I have even set up direct deposit for a specific amount I can spare each paycheck to go directly into the account. Out of site/out of mind….until I’ve collected enough to meet my goal!
Utilize a change jar
I know it sounds silly and not very impactful but you’d be surprised how much you can accumulate just by saving your loose change. Set the jar somewhere easily accessible, like the front door, or where ever you drop your drawers at the end of a long day. This makes it easy to drop the change you’ve collected. Use cash on everyday purchases and make a commitment to put any loose change in the jar. The $5 savings plan is great too! Basically, anytime you get a $5 bill, you have to save it!
Create a Budget
Take inventory of where your money is going. You can do this manually with a check register or print out from the bank or there are many apps to do this for you! Personally, I love either the EveryDollar App or Mint. I bet you didn’t realize how much you were spending every month on casual gas station visits for a coke. Or what about that Starbucks fund - I see you over there. Look for places you can cut your regular expenses. Even opting for water instead of inflated restaurant soft drink prices will save you a ton!
24 Hour Rule
This rule seriously game changer for impulse buying. We are all prone do it. You see something new. Shiny. Pretty. Deep down you know you don’t need it, but you like it and it’s only $x. Sleep on it. When shopping online, add the items to your cart but sit on it for 24 hours. During that time, think of the other things that are also on your wishlist and make a comparison. Do you want this new shiny thing more? You will more than likely come back the next day and find you don't want or need it anymore! If you still do, at least you put some conscious thought into the purchase and are less likely to regret it later.

Oh look! Express is having another 40% off sale! Free panty with any purchase at Victoria’s Secret PLUS a free tote bag if I spend $75? You can never have too many tote bags right?! I get it. We all fall victim to email sales notifications at some point. Remove the temptation. YES! You can have too many tote bags. Unsubscribe from those pesky marketing emails!
Marie Kondo that shiz
The new Netflix special, Tidying Up, is all the rage. Use the momentum of the trend to your advantage. We all have a little extra clutter in our closet or around the house we could part with. Now don’t get me twisted - I’m not trying to say you should sell all your shit in order to book a session. I’m simply suggesting maybe you can kill two birds with one stone here. I know my closet has a few things shoved in the back that I no longer wear but are in excellent condition. Resources like Facebook marketplace make it super simple to purge things you don’t need and make a little extra cash for that Boudoir change jar.
If saving up ain’t your gig and the money isn’t sitting around begging to be spent - but you still want to book, I offer payment plans just for Babes like you! More details to follow.
