Not only does Shelby have insane skill in her craft but she’s incredibly kind AND tons of fun! Having had a couple sessions herself, (#1, #2, #3, #4) she is sure to put your nerves at ease!

INTERVIEW WITH MAKE UP GURU, SHELBY

Tell us a little about yourself

I’m a small town gal, Mommy of 2 girls and have a new baby on the way (we don’t know gender yet, eager to find out!) I’m a woman of many hats- I work corporate America, I’m a licensed EMT and work ambulance as well as volunteer on my local Fire Department just for fun, I love to learn so I’m constantly striving to learn more and truly always want to be the best at what I do. After baby is born I plan to go back to Nursing School and get my RN. I’m a social butterfly and I’m pretty sure it annoys my husband. I always know someone everywhere we go 🤣

Tell us 5 random facts or things you are currently loving/reading/watching

  1. If you haven’t read Girl Wash Your Face, DO IT.

  2. My favorite season is Fall

  3. I am ambidextrous, to the max

  4. I’m currently obsessing over A Million Little Things

  5. I really enjoy singing and music is an outlet for me

How long have you been a Make Up Artist and what got you started in the field?

I started doing make up when I was 13-14 years old, I loved making myself feel better and the freedom of creativity that came with it. I used to draw a lot as a child and make up became another outlet for my self expression.

What is your favorite part of the job?

My favorite part is giving someone a chance to see themself in a way that they don’t get to often enough, sometimes I pull a person so far out of their comfort zone and the confidence radiates off of them and I love that! All the warm fuzzies 🥰

What are your favorite styles or looks to do?

I love to create a chic, dramatic look the most. I don’t get to do it enough because it takes the right occasion to wear the look!

What is your favorite make up tip or trick?

My favorite make up tip is most importantly, quality products to preserve the quality of your skin so be aware of what products you put on your skin. And secondly, your face is your canvas so don’t be afraid to try new things! Also concealer can fix any mistake you make, don’t wipe an entire eye off over a minor mistake. Conceal the problem and reapply!
