How should I do my nails for my boudoir photoshoot?

When you book a boudoir shoot, I am sure you want to look your best from head to toe. You have your lingerie ready and your make up on point, but what about your nails?

During your session I will have you moving your hands around within a pose to achieve movement and emotion in your final gallery. I also love capturing tighter detail shots to create more intimacy. Some of these detail shots definitely include your fingers and toes, so we want to make sure they are photo ready as well.

You will want to avoid busy designs, or bright, fluorescent colors that may be distracting. A bold nail can steal the spotlight and take attention away from the main focus of the image. Trendy colors and designs will not stand the test of time and may distract you later when you pull out your stunning album. Don’t even get me started on dirt stuck in your nail beds or polish that is half chipped. No. just don’t. I’ll whip out a nail brush and polish remover, I keep them on hand just in case.

Though this experience is about you and not your nails, manicured nails will only help to create more polished photos. I recommend sticking with neutral, natural, or classic colors such as French tip, light pink, nude, or clean and natural. Black or red can also add an edgy vibe.

While you don’t have to hit the salon for an expensive mani/pedi if you don’t want to - at the very least make sure your nails are clean.
