Should I get a wax before my boudoir photoshoot?

As I am working on updating my client preparation guides, I thought it could be helpful to share some prep tips here too! Clients typically have a lot of questions about how to prepare for their boudoir photoshoot to make sure they have the best images possible. I’m often asked if I recommend getting a wax before the photoshoot.

Body hair removal is totally at your discretion. Many babes in recent years have embraced their natural body and dropped the wax or razor, and as an inclusive studio, I support whatever makes you feel happy and confident!

Note that I do not “photoshop” unwanted hair out of your images. If body hair is present when you arrive, I will assume you are embracing it and want it to be there.

If you plan to have any waxing done, be sure to do so 2-3 days before the session to avoid seeing irritation in your images. Often times, after a wax, your skin will be left a little red and inflamed. Waxing a few days before allows your skin time to rest and heal. I am not an expert though on waxing services. I recommend talking with your esthetician about scheduling, wax prep and after care to get the best results. Be sure to let them know ahead of time that you are prepping for a photoshoot so they can advise accordingly!
