How to Prepare For A Boudoir Photoshoot : A Bestie's Guide to Slaying Your Session
So, you’ve taken the leap, booked your boudoir session, and now you’re starting to feel those pre-shoot jitters. You’re excited—but also a little nervous. ok. a lot nervous. You’re not alone! Whether you’re a busy mom, a woman reclaiming her body, or someone celebrating a major life change, you’ve come to the right place. I'm here to walk you through it all, from waxing to wardrobe, so you show up feeling like you are a seasoned pro.
Let’s dive in, shall we?
1. Stretch It Out, Babe!
Nope, I’m not saying you need to be a yoga queen before your session (although, go you if you are!). Stretching helps get your body loose and limber. Think of it like preparing for a workout—but way more fun, and with zero burpees involved. You’ll be posing in ways that make your body look its best, so we want to keep things flexible and comfy. So, a little stretch here and there will make sure you’re not stiff the day after we’ve worked all your best angles!
2. Let’s Talk Hair Removal (But Only If You Want To!)
Some women like to wax or shave before their shoot, and that’s totally cool! But I’m here to remind you, it’s your body, your choice. If you like a little hair, keep it. If you prefer smooth skin, then go for it. Just make sure you don’t wax the day before your session—give it a few days so your skin calms down. lace and razor burn are not bffs - trust me on this. We don’t want any redness getting in the way of your glow.
3. Pamper Those Nails
Details matter, and your hands (and feet) will make an appearance in some of your photos. Whether you love a bold mani-pedi or keep it classic with nude tones, make sure your nails are looking their best. But don’t overthink it—whatever color or style makes you feel confident is the way to go! you can absolutely forgo a salon visit if that’s not your thing - but at minimum remove chipped polish and clean underneath your nails.
4. Wardrobe, Darling
Here’s the fun part: wardrobe selection! I’ve got you covered with a full client closet that’s as inclusive as it gets—sizes XS to 4X, baby! You’ll have over 200 pieces to choose from, so whether you’re feeling bold and strappy or soft and romantic, you’re bound to find something that speaks to your soul. And if you’ve got your own fave pieces at home, bring them along! We’ll try everything on the day of and make sure each look is styled to perfection.
5. Tanning Tips
I know, I know. It’s tempting to book a last-minute tanning appointment. But trust me on this one—skip the spray tan! If you tan, go for a natural sun-kissed glow, and try not to do anything drastic right before the session. Artificial tans can sometimes look a little off in photos, and we want to keep things looking naturally gorgeous. if you do opt for a little fake bake - please do so a few days prior to session day to avoid transferring color onto studio furniture.
6. Hydrate & Rest
You’re about to feel like a total badass in front of the camera, so treat yourself like one in the days leading up to the shoot. Drink plenty of water, get a good night’s sleep, and avoid stress as much as possible. (I know, easier said than done—but you’ve got this!) A well-rested body shows up on camera with glowing skin, sparkling eyes, and all that good energy. i’ll even send you some breathing techniques to get your zen on in the days leading up to session day.
7. Get Your Playlist Ready
Yes, I’ll have a playlist on deck in the studio, but if you’ve got a killer set of jams that makes you feel unstoppable, bring it! Music sets the mood and helps you relax into the experience, so we’ll be dancing, laughing, and snapping pics that capture all that radiant energy.
8. Don’t Worry About Posing
I get it—the idea of posing can be nerve-wracking. But trust me when I say: I’ve got you. I’ll be guiding you through every single pose. All you have to do is show up, be yourself, and let me take care of the rest. I’ll demonstrate each move and tweak it to perfection, so there’s really no need to know how to pose like a pro—I've got you covered from head to toe.
9. Trust the Process
Remember: this is all about you. Your beauty, your confidence, your journey. The transformation from feeling nervous to feeling like a badass is going to happen—just trust the process. By the time we’re done, you’ll be glowing from the inside out, and that will show in every photo.
