Jackie is a stunning mom of 2 with curls that would make anyone swoon. Jackie booked her boudoir session to celebrate her birthday. I am always so thrilled when women do a session for themselves for a boost in confidence. Jackie said she was so nervous going in the day of her session.

Hair And Make Up: Hillary Rehms of MakeUpHill

Living Room Set: You all know I always love this set choice. It is such a comfortable set for us to start the session with. I love the Client Closet outfit we selected for this set. The black soft cup bra and sheer skirt pair so well together and look phenomenal on Jackie.

Clawfoot Tub: We switched things up a bit for Jackie’s session with the Clawfoot tub set by including my vintage peacock chair. We really infused Jackie’s personality in this set with with smudging, smoking, crystals, and witchy books. I love the emerald green 2 piece set she picked from the Client Closet for this set.

Creek Set: Jackie is a nature kinda gal, so naturally we headed down to the creek for her final set. I can’t wait for summer to roll back around so I can do more sessions outside like this. For this set, we used a mustard bralette from the Client Closet to pair with the fun skirt that Jackie brought with her. We also incorporated the blue robe from the Client Closet and even a gold and lace body chain! I love that Jackie stepped out of her comfort zone for this set and opted for implied nude! Most clients find it is not as scary as they imagined and there is no greater feeling than being naked in nature!

I’ve dreamed of attending a foam party a la Boys and Girls starring Freddie Prince Jr ever since the movie released in 2000. Have you ever seen it? When I saw this foam machine shared in one of the Boudoir Photographer Education groups I couldn’t run to Amazon fast enough to snag my own!

Have you ever avoided something for a long time - using every excuse in the book not to do it - and then afterwards thought “that really wasn’t as bad as I made it out to be…” ‘cuz same. That was exactly the scenario when it came to last week’s Fly on the Wall Friday Set.

I kept avoiding going LIVE while I photographed someone in the Shower Set. I had every excuse why it wouldn’t go smoothly.

You know what is really bringing me a lot of joy lately? These Fly on the Wall Friday sessions that I have been shooting LIVE in the Facebook VIP group! Seriously though - I’m not just saying that. It brings my 2 favorite things together - photoshoots and community - for a fun chat while I photograph a muse in the studio. I’ve had several people in the group reach out and say that they really appreciate seeing what it is actually like being photographed by me. I’ve heard that it helps calm some nerves before booking their own session with me knowing that I am going to guide them through the entire process!

When I first took these self portraits. I hated them. In fact, I didn’t even look at them again for another week. Seeing them now, in a different headspace, it makes me a little sad to think about. How unfair and unkind I was to myself that day. The pictures are the exact same. I didn’t retake them. Someone didn’t sneak in and photoshop away my insecurities. I was feeling frustrated [read hormones] with my body that day. I felt sluggish and bloated and just not like myself. I ached all over and PMS was hitting my emotions hard. Now I see art, strength, and love. So I wrote an apology letter to my body from my soul and we became best friends as a result.
